would you rather...

I was getting lunch ready when Sparky walked up behind me, talking quietly to himself. "This will make her so happy" he whispered, just loud enough for me to catch. I'm so glad I heard him because I made sure to let him know I LOVED the flowers he was bringing me. I wonder if we always knew what our children were thinking, would we be more tender with them. Would we triumph often in the seemingly simple.
I am looking forward to a day years in the future when I can drop by a florist and pick up new flowers for my table each week. But I have this feeling that once that day comes, I'll be longing for the drinking glass of divine weeds and branches.

precious! my oldest brought me a single clover blossom yesterday and said, "here you go. but if a bee wants it, you give it to him because i like honey. when he finishes with it you can have it back." i always want to remember her thoughtful gift and her concern for bees. :)
