Make a family flag.

For family night we worked side-by-side to fashion a special banner. The pictures are not so bad considering we're without a functional camera in our home!

We simply must plan a camping trip, just so that we can put our new family flag up at the campsite!

We modeled our flag after the following painting by Kazuto Uota of Osaka, Japan, which adorns the cover of this month's edition of the Ensign. (You can read the entire August edition online by following this link.) We fell in love with "Tree of Life" the moment the mailman dropped the magazine through the hole in our door.

We added a tire swing.

A word to the wise; If your children are anything like ours, there may be crying, fighting, screaming, bullying, taunting, and time-outs as you try any make this activity happen.

And you, the parent, will probably be the one crying.

But it will be worth the trouble when, in the autumn of life, you open a box in the attic to find a tattered, old flag that represents your sweet family and reminds you of all the adventures you shared.

I love those kids... but I'm still really glad they're asleep.

I completely understand that last bit, I love Elle too, but am always glad when she sleeps. Love the flag and I dig the tree of life also. I love the symbolism.
