How can it be...
that a home video of a child...
could be more true-to-life when played backwards to music?
Perhaps we cannot every truly capture the magic of a real moment. Not with a camera. The wind whistling in the speaker, the sound of my own shrill voice. I replay the take, expecting to feel what I felt watching him then, but inevitably the enchantment has paled.
I guess that's what art is, really. The return to or creation of the magic in emotions, actions, people, places, etc.
To preserve life, just the way it is, is impossible. But to create an accurate representation of life...
Nope. That's probably impossible, too. Life is just too good.
And even the most talented artists combined will never quite bottle it all.
