within the boundries.

of course they painted their world.

we came home from our date covered in color and told them all about our lovely experience. why wouldn't they want to try?

ossi came up behind me as i was doing dishes...

"ehem, mom."

"what's up, dear?" (turning to see him.) "oh, my! what happened here?"

"well, we after a while  we said 'thiiiiis is not such a good idea' and we went to wash it off but it didn't work."

i wasn't even upset, not even a little. of course they painted!

you know, sometimes i forget how cool a parent's job is. i forget that we are tour guides to a full life.

my mind pulls to the top of the pile the following words from shel silverstien...

“Listen to the mustn'ts, child. Listen to the don'ts.
Listen to the shouldn'ts, the impossibles, the won'ts.
Listen to the never haves, then listen close to me...
Anything can happen, child. Anything can be.”

oh, my goodness, they should paint! just not on our couch.

i have a renewed commitment to bringing adventure to them. great joy, within the boundaries of kindness, consideration, and respect.

hooray for our little house full of curious-georges.

Wow. Way to be an awesome mom!
I agree we shouldn't get angry at them for being curious, but some days that's easier said than done. I would probably be less likely to mind being interrupted while doing the dishes myself.
I love how he came to the conclusion himself that it wasn't such a good idea. :)
How did you ever get it off?

we kind of take the "it'll come off naturally" approach. so finn has grey hair this week. their skin is looking better. and the couch is still painted. eventually we'll get around to trying a solvent on it. :)
