lovers.

you know, it's really nice that kids are required to bring valentines for every kid in their class. that way no body feels left out.

but also, it stinks.

i feel like the original valentines day traditions were so sweet and simple and good. people made something for their super-heart-fluttering-wishful-thinking-love-to-be. their valentine. i imagine a darling, little boy toiling away to make the perfect card.

i totally understand that there are many parents who would not want their kindergartener to have a special someone. i am right there with ya. except i'm sort-of not. let me give you an example of why.

Liam is so crazy for a certain nine-year-old girl. he is like a love-struck puppy whenever she comes around. though he can hardly say two words to her without melting into mush, he is so committed to this girl. he loves her dearly in his sweet, pure, five year old way. and he really thinks he's going to grow up and marry her some day.

i swear this adoration is part of his motivation to become a good man. the way he talks about her demonstrates that he already wants to be a good husband some day.

Ossi, while he was making his special valentine for Tiffany, said, "she'll look at this and she'll know that she is my true love." i promise i haven't been watching romance movie with them or anything. it's just in them. they're "lovers" in the most beautiful sense of the word.

so since Liam wanted to make extra special valentines for his closest friends in the class, we spent the entire day making fabulous valentines for everybody. is that like communism?

and now our art room looks like this...

and the ONLY other thing i've done today is paint my toe nails.

it was kind-of the best day ever.
