our thing.
where are we going? shoulder shrug.
what do you want to do? shoulder shrug.
what did we used to like to do together before we had kids? ummmm...
without a plan we invariably end up at a thrift store.
the other night it felt especially lame to be dressed up and rummaging through shelves looking for half-off-sale-colored tags. i asked matt, "what's happened to us? is this our thing, now? we used to be cool."
the conversation brought us through our past dating years, meandering through memories of concerts and cafes. so we left goodwill and headed downtown in search of "our thing."
so, we found some stellar items in the closed hipster shops (btw most shops are closed on tuesdays, which we might have known had we been cool). the varied bars were all lit up, but that's never been our thing.
ultimately we decided that dwelling on the cute bloggy couples who go on bike ride dates to get scones is not good for my mental health. we also decided to hit the redbox.
then back home where we went about displaying the random stuff we got at the thrift-store so that the kids would wake up and be confused. you should have seen finn's face when he woke up the next morning wearing elf slippers.
snuggling that night we realized, "this is our thing." home with each other, children sleeping soundly upstairs.
