a sunday visit.

as long as the kids could remember we'd had sunday dinner at great-grandpa's.

even after august, when he left this world to be reunited with great-grandma, we'd continued the tradition hosted by my dear uncle.

with our state's stay-at-home order in march our sunday dinners were put on hold.

one sunday in may, when gwen was very new, we tried our best for a sunday visit.

as the kids took great care to tidy the edges of the gravestone, i thought about how blessed they were to have had so many sundays. years of sundays with great-grandpa.

recently i logged into an old email account... a REALLY old one that i hadn't used since before the start of this blog. expecting to find only junk subscriptions, i discovered that for years my grandpa had been sending me emails there that i'd never seen. the account was peppered with treasured notes from my uncle, as well.

10 years worth of bottled messages drifting across time's sea.

maybe gwen and i will go through them all someday so she can get to know great-grandpa. although it's possible she high-fived him on her way in and his way out.
