you do you.

matt has always balanced our babies in the palm of his hand from the time they can lock their knees and hold their heads up.
i expected that gwen would allow none of that nonsense, just as evy had rejected any such frivolity. each time matt tried she would crumple into a ball and refuse to comply. i wrote it off to girls-verses-boys.
that seems to be a bother of having one girl... you get to thinking that this one daughter is every and all girls. that girls must be helpful because she's helpful. that girls must be serious and thoughtful with a silly streak because she's got a pensive nature with punch-drunk vignettes. girls must be shyish because this girl who is THE girl doesn't like the spotlight.
not so, i'm seeing.
gwen delights to balance on dad's hand, the way the boys did. she squawks like a diva to grab the room's attention. she's quite timid with strangers, though. oh, she's her own spirit and how blessed we all are for it.
we'll wrap up this post with a delightfully over-the-top celebration of uniqueness and girl-power... you do you by jason maraz.
