grateful for glue.

among my songs unsung i found a few high notes i thought i'd share today.
this morning i was listening to a recording about the Jewish high holy days and i was struck with awe and wonder over the richness and depth of holy traditions and ceremonies.  i wanted to understand and celebrate in unity with all who rejoice... to sing out with anyone standing on their tiptoes to see God through the throng.
just over an hour ago we sat as a family and listened to our prophet give a brief message of hope and healing to the world. leading up to the unprecedented live gathering of onlookers we all marveled at the living chat! it was invigorating to read the rapid-fire remarks of our brothers and sisters of faith all over the world. and as we absorbed the message of the Lord our children exclaimed surprise to see tears falling down our faces. (they see me cry all of the time but it's not as common for matt to shed tears.)
i thank God for the glue of eternity.
for covenants we make, promises that bind us together.
decisions of lasting significance. decisions to devote oneself to a spouse, a child, a parent, a sibling, a friend, a cause.
i feel forever grateful for promises that bind us to our God and our family. these covenants grant us literal power to be true and courageous. to reach our own divinity despite our humanity.
hosanna. blessed be the name of the Most High God.
and a late song of praise for evy's baptism in november of 2019.

I sing along with the praises and gratitude that you shared. How blessed we are to have an eternal perspective. We are not living in the here and now, but we are investing in our future, in our family, and in forever. When we turn plates over for gratitude this Thanksgiving, it is as it should be, the family and friends are the first on my list. I'm grateful for blessings given freely and without number, by our Heavenly Father and Savior during these times of trials... and in these latter days.
