growth spurt

I know that when my darlings sleep, when they fall asleep quickly and wake up late, when they seem so tired in the middle of the day, that they're likely to grow half an inch in a month. They sleep like life's weight is resting on them. They sleep like that when the push and stress of growing brings out the dark circles under their eyes. photo ketchup 237 of 306_zpsjoq6ibdq.jpg Finn has grown about an inch since December. When I measured him on the heigh wall last night I thought, "no wonder he's been so tired." This kind of growth is exhausting. photo ketchup 239 of 306_zpssxdoez98.jpg photo ketchup 248 of 306_zpswmw7cubk.jpg I know that when my darlings eat, when they stuff their faces with anything I put in front of them, when they seem to have a hollow leg, they're likely to display some new strength. They eat like that when they're rapidly learning. They eat like that when they are thinking a lot, playing a lot, working a lot. They eat like that when they are feeling alive. photo ketchup 238 of 306_zpskmxof7qs.jpg
Maybe living growth is on its way with the Spring. photo ketchup 240 of 306_zpsvoma1uvd.jpg There have been waves of energy and life, but I would say that the general feel of the last two years has been "stretch." Growing through stress and strain. photo ketchup 242 of 306_zpstyng8mom.jpg photo ketchup 250 of 306_zpsk6qlkiwe.jpgA blue midst surrounds me. Not a depression. Not that dark, deep blue of a raging storm. More like a blue ocean to swim. A beautiful, friendly sea that stretches out as far as my narrow sight. photo ketchup 247 of 306_zpsyhw8ge2y.jpgMy arms are tired. My legs are tired. My eyes are tired. photo ketchup 244 of 306_zpsjn49vhl9.jpg photo ketchup 243 of 306_zps0zsky6vf.jpgWhen I reach my voice to Heaven I feel the love of a Father. He tells me I'm going through a growth spurt and that it's normal to be tired. He tells me it's okay to have dark circles and that it doesn't matter what people thing. He tells me that the other type of growth is near. photo ketchup 245 of 306_zpswmemxbhe.jpg And I believe Him. photo ketchup 249 of 306_zpspgghsjq7.jpg
